Stage 6 and the second of two days in the Vosges mountains. The pick for today is a climb called Col des Chevrères that is still somewhat unknown, only being used once before today in the 2014 edition where it was also the penultimate climb before La Planche des Belle Filles.

The climb is just under 4 Km’s long at an average of 9% but with a section averaging 18% for over a kilometer. It is a truly horrid climb and will be ridden at pace if the breakaway has been brought back as there is a time bonus to the first three riders to cross the summit of 8, 5 and 2 seconds. In the 2014 edition, the riders who made an effort here paid for it on the final climb. It will be interesting to see how it plays out today. Can a rider take the time bonus and also the stage win?
